Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating Karen Kelley's sexy new paranormal release!
SMOKING HOT by Karen Kelley
"Kelley burns up the pages...this book is witty, sexy, and a lot of
fun."—RT Book Reviews
Everything She Wants...
Working the night shift at the sheriff's office has given deputy Raine
McCandless more than enough time to fantasize about the kind of man she'd like
to take prisoner, so when she arrives home to find a sexy intruder waiting for
her, she's pretty sure she must be dreaming.
...Can and Will Be Held Against Her
But Dillon Taylor, with his stunning blue eyes and killer tan, is 100% real,
just not 100% human. Half-man, half-angel, he'd love to answer every naughty
prayer Raine has ever had. But Raine is in serious danger. And Dillon can only
fulfill her every fantasy if he can keep her alive.

Karen Kelley became very adept at how things worked in the publishing world. You write a book, you mail it off, you get rejected, you write another book. She did this for six years until one day she talked her husband into mailing her manuscript for her. She couldn't take one more look of pity from the postal workers. Being the loving husband that he is, he mailed Bachelor Party to Hilary Sares at Kensington to be considered for the Precious Gem line on a Tuesday. On Friday of that same week, Hilary called to offer a contract.
Wow! Wouldn't it be great if everything in life was that easy? Publishing can be a rocky road with lots of highs and lows but, oh, what a fun trip!
When Karen's not writing, she loves doing crafts, and she'll try just about anything. At present, she's scrapbooking and making necklaces. She's country all the way. She loves antiques, embroidered scarves, crocheted doilies and quilts.
Karen met the love of her life when they were kids, they married when they were still just kids even though everyone said it wouldn't last. That was almost 42 years ago and Karl is still her very best friend. They have two fabulous children who married fabulous people and gave them four wonderful grandchildren that they can spoil--then return to the peace and quiet of their home.

Is this book related to any of your other releases? Is it part of a series?
Why a half-angel / half-human hero this time?
I hope you enjoy your Cyber Launch Party today and hope the rest of your book tour goes fantastic! And I'm raising my iced coffee to SMOKING HOT being your biggest bestseller yet!
Have fun and thanks for partying with us today!
Yes this is a part of a series but they are all stand alone books.
ReplyDeleteOnce I read about nephilim I knew I had to write about them. Long ago angels came down to earth and mated with beautiful mortal women. The offspring were called nephilim, with all the vices of men I knew my heroes would be interesting. Thanks so much and so do I.
I love this series, the characters you created are great. I can't wait to read the future books. Thanks for the series and thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThank You for the giveaway. You are a fairly new author for me & I'm looking forward to some great reads.

Are you celebrating this release in any special way? Glass of wine? New bling? Framed coverflat? Tattoo? ;)
Hope you're having a great weekend!

Thanks Eva. I loved creating these characters and watching them come to life.
ReplyDeleteHi Leann. I hope you enjoy all my books.
flchen1: This is part of the Good Girl Series but all three books will stand alone. I will celebrate with something (maybe all of what you mentioned, except the tattoo, lol)
Thanks to all three for dropping by the party.

I'm so excited for this new read. Congrats on all of your success. You certainly deserve it.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: how do you feel, being a published author has changed your life? If at all. lol
Question : how do you take criticism of your books or writing in general. Both the good and the bad.

ReplyDeleteHello Linda. Thanks for dropping by. Glad you like my books. It always makes me feel good when someone enjoys them and lets me know. And yes, the cover fits the name, Smoking Hot."
ReplyDeleteSusan, thanks for asking. This is part or The Good Girl Series. The other titles are Where There's Smoke and Where There's A Will. This is the third in the series but they will all stand alone.
Rebecca: I don't feel that being published has changed my life much at all other than having more confidence than before. As far as the criticism goes you have to let the bad roll off like water and use it to your advantage to improve your skill. I always welcome the good and love to talk about writing with anyone willing to ask and listen.
Thanks for the comments and questions.
How do you develop your characters and pick their names? Which comes first...their personality and physical appearance, then a name to fit the person you created or a great name and develop a character around the name.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed many hours reading your wonderful books and am looking forward to the time I will spend reading this terrific novel also.

Congratulations on 'Smoking Hot'...and I am sure it will live up to its title.
Hi Shari,
DeleteThanks so much for stopping by. I start with an idea for a plot. Next, the character begins to form in my mind. I think a lot about what kind of traits they will need to support the plot. I actually find names from a baby book, but it might take hours before I find the one that works.
Thanks so much for all your comments about my books. I'm thrilled you've enjoyed them!
Karen...
ReplyDeleteI love your books. I just finished reading 'Where There's Smoke' and loved it!! I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. I can't wait to get started on 'Smoking Hot'. I love this series of books and only wish they could go on and on and on! This was one of the best books I've ever read and I love you as an author. You have such a wonderful writing technique, and there's never a dull moment in your stories! Congratulations on 'Smoking Hot' which will blow readers away, I'm sure. Xfinity001@Yahoo.com
WOW!!!! Thanks bunches and bunches. You absolutely have me grinning from ear to ear!!!
DeleteKaren...
ReplyDeleteI forgot to leave a question. I was wondering how you came up with the idea of nephilims (angels mating with beautiful mortal women) in 'Where There's Smoke' and all the details with Hell? It's as if you've lived it (are you reincarnated)?? (LOL)! Xfinity001@Yahoo.com
Shared with friends Submitted by Linda L.
LOL Nope, not reincarnated (that I know of) I just figured Hell would look a lot like the vision in my head. Nephilims are mentioned in the Bible and it talks about angels coming to earth and mating with beautiful mortal women and the nephilim were their offspring. The wheels began to turn :)
DeleteHappy release! Did you make the necklace in your picture?

Yes, I did and then gave it away in my "a year of bling-bling and a book" contest especially for my newsletter group. I love having contests. My newsletter group is free to join, btw :)
DeleteHappy release Karen!!!
ReplyDeleteIs there any genre or even another area of romance that you haven't written in that you want to?

Dark suspense. I'm just not sure I ever could because I have a tendency to write sarcastic humor at times. It might or might not work. I'd probably have the heroine reaching for the doorknob--you know that moment where you're screaming, No, don't open the door! Except mine would have a gun and she'd blow him away. It might be a really, really short story :)
