Celebrating Sandra Sookoo's Inspiring New Contemporary Romance

Today on our Cyber Launch Party Blog, we're celebrating a new contemporary romance from Sandra Sookoo.

Sandra Sookoo is a writer of romantic fiction. Her portfolio includes historical, contemporary, sci-fi and paranormal romances. She loves to blend genres and spice them up and often times will add humor as well.

After catching the writing bug at the young age of ten, she’s gone on to grow her unique writing style. She’s a regular contributor for the Paranormal Romantic's blog and has a great time keeping things interesting at the Believing is Seeing blog.

When not immersed in creating new worlds and interesting characters, Sandra likes to read, bake and travel. Her favorite place to spend vacation hours is Walt Disney World. It’s where dreams come true and the soul can play. That suits her just fine. Writing is her ultimate dream job.

When life gives you lemons, use them for lemonade or let them sour your life.

Clara Tildon, a cancer survivor, has no time for defeatism. She's opened up the Cute as a Button B & B in Bridgewater, Indiana, and along with her guinea pig, is embracing the lemonade lifestyle. It was always how she wanted to live. Everything is perfect, except for the nagging sensation that she would still like to fall in love.

Jake Yates has returned to Bridgewater, the town he grew up in, for his friend's wedding and he's not happy about it. He got out once and coming back, even for a visit, is not on his agenda. The people of Bridgewater can keep their small town life, it's in his past and that's where he intends it to stay. Even loneliness can't make him reconsider his decisions.

A chance meeting. A fleeting kiss. Suddenly two polar opposites get a unique chance at love. But can Clara give up living in the moment long enough to see Jake as an opportunity she needs to plan for? Can Jake alter his well-laid plans to fit Clara in his life? Or will they both let love get away?

  1. Happy Release Day Sandra!! Super congrats on EMBRACING THE LEMONADE LIFE - it sounds fantastic!

I know several cancer survivors, so I can't tell you how wonderful it is to see a cancer survivor heroine in a romance!

Tell us a bit about the book and how you came to write it. Is this your first book with Desert Breeze?

I'm off to read the excerpts, best of luck with the new book and enjoy your special day!

  2. Having been sick for a while and now that I am all better, I totally get the character of Clara. I would love to read this book and find out how Jake and Clara work out their differences. Do you plan to write other stories set in Bridgewater?

  3. Hi Sandra, Wow you sure are versatile. Do you have problems keeping everything straight?

  4. Congrats on your new release! It sounds like a wonderful read and I would love to read it. Do you ever base your books on something that happen to you in real life? Thanks for the great contest.

  5. Sandra's characters sound quite interesting and each determined in their own way.

Sandra, you write in several sub-genres, do you work on more than one story at a time and if you do, how easy is it to shift gears from one kind of romance to another?

Congrats on your release. Wishing you lots of sales!

  6. HAPPY RELEASE DAY, SANDRA :) I am not familiar with your writing but soon to be as buying your book is on my to do list for today. Congrats again on your new release.

  7. Happy Release Day Sandra! Embracing the Lemonade Life sounds really good and I've really enjoyed the books I've gotten from Desert Breeze.

Do you listen to music while you write and if you do - what type of music did you listen to while you wrote this book?

  8. Hey DeNita! Sorry I'm late. I was out all day with my hubby :-)

Embracing the Lemonade Life is my 4th book (well 4th and a 1/2 I'm in an antho) with Desert Breeze :-)

I wrote it after a good friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer a second time

  9. Hi Jen! So glad you're better :-) Do I plan more books in Bridgewater? Well, I guess I can say never say never :-)

Hi Debby! I write in many subgenres because I don't like having my brain get bored. It's usually not a problem keeping things straight :-)

  10. Hi Virginia! Yes, some of the time I do base books on real life happenings :-) Life is very inspirational :-)

Hi JL! I don't work on more than one project. I like to concentrate on the story in progress. Sometimes it's hard but it just means I need to focus more :-)

  11. Hi Pauline! Thanks so much for buying my book! I hope you enjoy it :-)

Hi Maria! Thanks for shopping with Desert Breeze :-) I usually don't listen to music when I write. I do however pick out a song that reminds me of the hero and heroine :-)

  12. Congratulations on your new book and hope you are having a fantastic release day.
Do you edit as you go along or do you complete yu wip before making any changes?
    sherrygloag at gmail dot com

  13. Congrats on your new release. I love the premise and from the comment thread see that you were inspired to write in a point of view from a cancer survivor. Did this fulfill you or was it a struggle to delve into what can be a painful issue?

  14. Hi Sherry! I usually edit as I go. I read over what I wrote the day before then write the next day's stuff. that's my process :-) Once the wip is completed then I make more changes as necessary :-)

  15. Hi Danielle! Did writing this story fulfill my need? Yes, it was how I dealt with that event. I had to do something. :-) Was it emotional? Yup, as were the books I wrote before and after this one. dealing with something like that doesn't last one book :-)

  16. Hi Sandra. Happy release day! Can't wait to read you new book. How many times you have been to Disney World?
    Sue B

  17. Hi Sue! How many times have I been to Disney World? Three times before I got married. Six times after I got married :-)

  18. Just wanted to ask how you decided on setting the book in Indiana.

  19. Hi Renee! How did I settle on Indiana as a setting? I live in Indiana so why not, though Bridgewater is a fictional town :-)
