Liia Ann White's first name is pronounced "Lee-Ah" - a bit odd and unique, but she thinks it suits her just fine. Liia is a regular 25 year old Aussie, born and raised in Perth, Western Australia - the best city in the world according to her.
Liia loves all things paranormal and spent her childhood and teen years watching shows like 'Unsolved Mysteries' and reading books on witchcraft, fairies, demons, ghosts, banshees, succubi and mutants - yes, she LOVES X-Men!
She first started writing when she was 15 and had her first short story published. After taking a break from writing, she's found her rhythm again and can't imagine life without it. Now she writes more than ever and loves it!
Liia is a complete geek, if she's not writing, she'll be reading, playing video games or spending time with her adorable doggies. She loves all things Disney and Star Wars. She's a big animal lover and activist, vegan (although she tries not to preach) and total greenie.
Currently, she lives in Perth with her family, which includes two adorable dogs, two birds and a handful of feisty fish. She's always interested in meeting new people, so drop her a line at her facebook page or twitter.
Liia is a member of Romance Writers of America, Romance Writers of Australia, Passionate Ink and Young Adult Chapter of Romance Writers of America.

Hey Liia!!! Super congrats on the new release - awesome cover and the story sounds great!
ReplyDeleteSo excited to see another story in Decadent's 1 Night Stand Series, how great that your story was included!
Tell us a bit about your new book and is it harder or easier for you to write shorts vs. longer stories? I know it is a whole different ball game and I wondered which you like best.
Enjoy your special party here at AuthorIsland and hope ONE HOT AUSTRALIAN NIGHT is a bestseller for you!
Thanks so much DeNita!
ReplyDeleteI wrote this story specifically for 1NS and it took 2 days. I just had an idea and couldn't stop!
I find shorts a lot easier (which surprised me), but I still prefer to write full lengths. They may take longer but I love getting into the plot and being a cruel author to the characters that I love :-)
Thanks again for everything! I hope people enjoy reading OHAN as much as I enjoyed writing it.
Congrats on the release. This book looks really good. Definitely adding this one to my wish list.

Congrats on your release!! This looks and sounds like a great book! What was your favorite part to write in this story?

Congrats on the new release. This one, and the other two on your website, sound great. Do you have any writing quirks? Have to have a certain drink, food, object close at hand, only able to write in a certain place, etc?

Congrats on the release. I am loving the 1NS series. They are great for a quick pick me up. I'd love to meet Madame Evangeline. Ah well. You are a new to me author. What are the titles of some of your other books?

Congrats on your new release! I love how emotional it sounds and love the concept. I too am an X-Men fanatic and love all the unique abilities each character has.

Hello Liia!
ReplyDeleteI adore the 1 Night Stand series. The couple always gets more than they bargained for. I like to see them fight their feelings for each other but ultimately take a chance to have more than one night. Zalia and Xavier's story sounds lovely. Congratulations on the new release.

congratulations on the new release,
ReplyDeletethe excerpt was great and i can't wait to read the rest of the book and see what happens next.

Liia, congrats on the release! and it's incredible that you only needed two days for writing the story!! but how long does it take you to write a full length novel?
ReplyDeletebooksforalleternity at gmail dot com
@Shadow_Kohler - Thanks so much for stopping by! As with most stories, I loved writing the initial sex scene. Figuring out their emotions, what they liked and how they worked together sexually was a lot of fun. Especially working with two emotionally vulnerable people, as well as a woman who was ultimately quite insecure with her physical appearance.
ReplyDelete@June M - Hi June, thanks for commenting! Writing quirks? I can only write if there's complete silence around me or I have music on. If there are people in the house I just can't concentrate enough to get it done - people moving around me is very distracting.
ReplyDeleteAs for food and drink; I always have either a red cordial (it's a sugar drink you mix with water here in Oz, not alcoholic) or Pepsi Max nearby to help. I have no idea why they work, but they help keep me on track :-)
@ Donna - Hi Donna, thanks for coming by, it's always nice to meet a new reader. I'm a new author. At the moment I've got one release out - an urban fantasy/paranormal romance entitled Elora's Match. It's the first book in The Different Saga (book 2 is currently in the works).
ReplyDeleteI've got a couple more 1NS shorts in the works, as well as a couple of holiday stories for anthologies with Silver and Decadent Publishing.
Hi Joder, thanks for coming by! That's why I love X-Men too - every character is unique.
ReplyDeleteHi Stacie! Thanks for stopping by here, you're always a great supporter ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love reading the 1NS series too, I'm so happy to be a part of it!
Hi Melanie. With both 1NS books I've written so far, it's been a complete fluke. 2 and 4 days to write and I've loved them. Full lengths take months. There's always a lot more involved and I tend to second guess my beginnings (a lot!). My debut took 9 months to write and the follow up and YA I've got in the works look like they're going to take the same amount of time. But hopefully they'll be worth it :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Danielle! Thank you so much for stopping by. Good luck in the draw!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new release! Did you have inspiration for the story, or did it just 'pop' in your mind?

Congratulations!! I have experienced many hot Australian nights, but none to match ONE HOT AUSTRALIAN NIGHT I'm sure. (I'm up in QLD.) Do you find it more difficult to get published being from Australia?
ReplyDeletemarypres(AT)gmail(DOT)com
Congratulations, Liia, on the release of One Hot Australian Night!! I hope it is very successful for you. Do you do anything special to celebrate a contract or release of a book?
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the party!

Hey DD Thanks for coming by! I'd had a hero in mind for a while - a widower who wanted to find love again but didn't know how. This 1NS opportunity was just perfect timing for me :-)
ReplyDeleteArtemis - Gambit is my fave too! Has been since I was about 5 I think. Taylor Kitsch was the perfect actor to play Gambit in my mind.
I made both the hero (Xavier) and heroine (Zalia) vegan. In Australia it's incredibly rare to find a vegan. For him it was the sealer of going on the date.
Hi Marybelle! Thanks heaps for coming - it's always nice to see a fellow Aussie! I haven't found it difficult getting published but edits can be interesting. All of my characters are Australian, even if the story is set elsewhere, so there are some colloquialisms and saying like 'eyed off' that don't translate properly to the Americans I've worked with. It makes for some funny emails going back and forth!
ReplyDeleteMy dream is to find an Aussie epublisher, but I'm out of luck on that so far.
Hi Karen. I actually didn't do anything to celebrate. I'm a really boring person! When my first story got contracted I had a drink at home.. That's it. I live the life of a very boring, but very busy hermit writer ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Hey Jen. Thanks for checking out my site! Elora's Match is like my baby. I even have a tattoo dedicated to the story and getting published. If you do get around to reading it let me know what you think. I love hearing from readers :-)
Currently reading One Hot Australian Night ... and liking it! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteKudos to you, Liia! I hope you're enjoying the buzz of your new release "One Hot Australian Night". It's a fabulous read! :-)
ReplyDeleteLouisa! Thanks so much babe. You made me all giddy and I'm grinning like a fool knowing you're reading it lol
ReplyDeleteAnd Fiona you're too sweet! <3
Sounds like a fun read! Congrats on your release. I'll have to add it to my TBR list!
ReplyDeleteOoh, a new-to-me series, Liia! Congrats on the new release! I'll be looking forward to catching up! How amazing that it took you just 2 days! Would you say that typically you are a fast or slower writer? Do you write full time?
