Celebrating the Release of Nina Pierce's Sexy Sci Fi HEALER'S GARDEN

Today we are celebrating the new Ellora's Cave AEON release of HEALER'S GARDEN by Nina Pierce.

Nina grew up in a house of readers. So falling in love with books was only natural. In her teen years she found her mother's romance books and became forever hooked on the journey of finding one's true love. Now, if you throw in a dead body and some mayhem, Nina is in reader nirvana.

A few years ago, reading about love wasn't enough. She is now driven to write stories of alpha-males with a chink in their armor and the kick-ass women who fall in love with them. And true to what she loves, more often than not, you'll find some suspense thread running through her plots, hopefully with enough twists to keep her readers turning the pages, staying up late, and burning dinner.

A native of Maine, Nina lives in what she affectionately calls "the great white North". She is fortunate to have married her high school sweetheart and true love twenty-five years ago. They share their lives with three grown children and a menagerie of pets.

WEBSITE *** MYSPACE

In the female-dominated society of the twenty-second century, mating with a male, even if it is to save the human race, is a distasteful task and one Healer Jahara Hriznek has successfully avoided - until now.

Brenimyn is a gifted breeding instructor at the Garden of Serenity. Forced to copulate with all females requesting his services, he yearns to find the one woman who responds to his touch. When Jahara arrives with the new class of breeders, Brenimyn's body immediately aches for her, but convincing the stubborn healer that sex between a man and a woman is more than just an act for procreation proves to be a challenge he refuses to fail.

Jahara doesn't want to enjoy the sinful rapture only Brenimyn brings to her body. Brenimyn has no intention of dousing the flames of desire licking at them until Jahara is completely his - body, mind and heart. But when the government finds their loving relationship a threat to the natural order, there may be more than their stubborn wills at stake in this sexy Ellora's Cave release from Nina Pierce.

  7. For those of you that follow my writing I should add that this book was originally published through another publisher two years ago. It has gone through a complete rewrite.

I feel fortunate that I had the opportunity to take a story I love and make it that much better for Ellora's Cave.

  10. I read the excerpt and have to tell you that I enjoyed it and wanted to read more. I haven't read many science fiction/paranormal stories, but lately have found myself looking into them.

  11. Leni - I'm glad you liked that excerpt. Ellora's Cave has part of chapter one up as well http://www.jasminejade.com/productspecs/9781419924996.htm which gives you a look at the heroine, Jahara. This one is sci fic because it happens in an alternative future where woman have "gifts".

  13. Hi Nina!
it's great to see you here today... you are a new author to me and your books are now an my wishlist - the excerpts were really compelling :)
it's interesting to see that your story takes place in the future - I haven't read a lot stories with that plot and I'm very curious how your world will be...
    wish you all the best!

  14. Sherry - Glad the book sounds so good to you. Feel free to buy yourself a copy. ;) What do I read (and I read for some part of every day)? Romantic suspense. I love thrillers with terrible villains and great love stories. It's mostly what I write as well. There's something challenging about dropping bread crumbs of clues then pulling it all together at the end of the story. Thanks for asking.

  15. Nina, you are so good! You know just the thing to write about that captures everyones attention!

  16. Ina - Well then hello. I'm glad you stopped in. Writing an alternative future book was actual quite challenging. I didn't want to go too far out, but had to make some changes. I think the biggest change is in the people themselves and of course the "female dominated" society ... but that part leans more toward sex discrimination and a caste system which adds another layer to the story.

  17. Patsy - Thank you. I hope you read both excerpts. Glad you could swing over.

  18. Nobody's mentioned the book trailer. I'm very proud of my trailers ... I make them myself. Just had to pat myself on the back there. LOL!

  19. Hi, Nina! Congratulations on "Healer's Garden"! How wonderful that your mother read romance books! What were some of those books of hers that you also read?

  21. Virginia - Thanks for mentioning the trailer. *vbg* Hmmm, my mother wasn't a traditional romance reader, no Harlequins (which I enjoy), or anything like that. She was much more interested in historicals and suspense (probably where I got my love). The first love story I found and fell in love with is "The Thornbirds" by Colleeen McCullough. I absolutely adore that romance. I never did read Judy Blume which many women found in their teens. Now I enjoy both Sandra Brown and Nora Roberts's thrillers.

  22. Hi, Nina!! Congrats on your latest--what a story it sounds like! I love the premise, and am looking forward to picking it up! I used to read a great deal more straight sci-fi, and have more recently realized that I can get both sci-fi/fantasy AND romance in one fell swoop! Are you doing anything special to commemorate your latest release?

    ReplyDelete
  23. flchen1 - I can't remember the last time I picked up a book that didn't include some kind of romance. Interesting that you mention that. Anyway ... other than the usual blog tours to get the word out about my book, I'm having a contest on my website ninapierce.com. Stop on over and check it out.

  24. Healers Garden sounds like a great story!
I enjoy books set in the future.
    Very nice trailer!

  25. I really enjoyed your excerpt, it certainly makes me want to read the entire book. I'm on an old computer and watching book trailers is a nightmare to accomplish, so sorry I can't comment on it. I'm sure it's wonderful. I read just about every genre so paranormal, science fiction or just contemporary romance are everyday reads for me.

  26. Estella - Thanks for taking time to watch the trailer.

  27. Linda - I know what you mean about book trailers. We got DSL only a few years ago and until then watching trailers was impossible. You sound like me. I dabble in all genres of romance though those with a science fiction twist are my favorites.

  28. I love the idea of this book! It's very intriguing and it really makes you wonder if something like this could actually happen in the future. With more and more women having to use fertility treatments now, the possibilities in your book might not be so far fetched one day.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Joder - Wow, I never thought of that. But infertility is certainly becoming very common. Thanks for stopping by.

  33. robynl- I'm glad you enjoyed the trailer. It's fun to take a novel and encapsulate the story in a short 2 minute video.

Razlover's - I'm so pleased with the cover. Ellora's Cave has an amazing cover art department who really listen to us and try to recreate our visions.

Mitzi - Never late to a party. The prize today is a goodie bag not the book. But DeNita did include the Buy link. ;)
