Celebrating Sam Cheever's New Series

Today on our Cyber LaunchParty Blog we're celebrating the kick off of Sam Cheever's new Honeybun Cousins Series!

Sam writes fast paced fantasy and romantic fiction with feisty characters who deal with life's little challenges in unique and often hilarious ways. As a reader Sam is very impatient. She quickly loses interest if a story doesn't have a good pace and snappy dialogue. Sam's inability to focus in a backwash of human angst and subtleties works out well for her readers, since she writes the way she likes to read.

In her real life, Sam lives on a hobby farm in Indiana with 10 dogs, 4 horses, 2 barn cats, 2 daughters, and one husband. Not necessarily in that order.

THE SHADOW OF A HONEYBUN - Honeybun Cousins Book One by Sam Cheever

Dolfe Honeybun is a bad boy. Skimming the dark edges of society in his job as a private detective, he’s seen way too much of the dark side of human behavior and become cynical. So when he catches the pretty black woman with mischievous, golden brown eyes sitting in the middle of his crime scene, he’s just not happy to see her, despite a delicious tightening low in his gut when he gets too close.

Blaise Runa likes to push the envelope. But her party girl ways are destined to come back to bite her. Blaise doesn’t take anything seriously. Unfortunately for her, serious, in a truly yummy form, is about to settle around her like a dark fog. And he’s already not amused by her antics.

  1. Super congrats on the new book Sam!!! Tell us about this new series of yours and about the series that it's a spin off of.

I know you've been pretty busy - tell us what you've been up to.

Enjoy your party and I hope The Shadow of a Honeybun (is that a shout out to the Thin Man, btw???) is another best seller for you!

  2. Hey DeNita!

Thanks for throwing me another great cyber launch party!

Shadow of a Honeybun is the first book in my Honeybun Cousins series. The cousins are a spin off of my popular Honeybun Hunks series, which is a romantic suspense series that is based on the fun and sexy stories of the 8 Honeybun brothers.

The Cousins series books will be shorter, 10k to 15k, and a bit hotter than the Hunks books. But they'll still feature some of your favorite Honeybun characters and a whole bunch of new ones.

Along with this series, for which I'm currently working on Book 2, Honeybun Sheik, I'm also working on Book 6 of my Dancin' With the Devil series, The Devil You Want, and Book 5 of my Honeybun Hunks series, Honeybun in a Loin Cloth. Various and sundry other works are waiting not so quietly in the wings for me to turn to them. #:0)

I look forward to visiting with you all today!

  3. Hi Sam, congrats on the new release. I've heard a lot about your Honeybun series and can't wait to get started on them. This is a spinoff series, do you recommend starting on the other series first, or can I start with this one?

  10. Here's another little taste of Dolfe and Blaise:

Dolfe sucked in a breath as her long, perfectly padded body pressed against his. His eyes nearly rolled back in his head under a wave of lust. Her scent rolled over him, warm and sweet and loin clenching, despite the stench of their foul surroundings.

But the body lying on the floor just ten feet in front of them put a definite crimp in the lustful thoughts his mind wanted to indulge in. He patted her hip.
“Stay here.” He didn’t wait to see if she listened, but wasn’t surprised, as he leaned over the body to check for a pulse, to find her sweet smelling hair tickling his cheek from over his shoulder.

    “Is he dead?”

Dolfe tugged the man’s suit coat to the side and found the bleeding hole created from a bullet at close range. It had gone right into his heart. “Stay. The word means remain in one place…do not move…abstain from traveling.”

Blaise reached a finger toward the hole. He grabbed it before she could touch the body. “Is that a bullet hole?”

Dolfe turned his head. “Are you on medication?”

    Blaise snorted.

“No, really. Your boyfriend was just killed right under your nose and all you want to do is poke your finger into the hole?”

Blaise’s skin tingled where his big hand wrapped around it. An answering pulse of delight throbbed between her thighs. She shrugged, standing. “I wasn’t gonna poke my finger into the hole. I just wanted to see if his chest was moving. Besides, he’s not my boyfriend, I just met him at a party tonight.”

“His chest isn’t moving. He’s dead.” Dolfe stood too, his green gaze spearing her with disdain. “You just met the guy and you let him bring you to a drug deal in an abandoned meth lab?”

Blaise frowned. “I thought we were going to the Pancake Palace for blueberry crepes.”

  15. Hey Estella!

It just kind of happened actually. The Publisher at Red Rose asked me to write a free read to celebrate the 12 days of Christmas and this is the story that emerged from my beady brain. The book was free for a month and is now on sale. Since my Honeybun series is locked at 8, one for each brother, I couldn't add it to that series, so Wendi (my publisher) and I decided to start a new series with it. Which was very tricky of her because she'd been nagging at me to find some way to extend the popular Honeybun series.

"Find some long lost cousins." She says to me. Well, I guess I kind of did. Har! Thanks for coming to my partee!

  16. Hey Sherry!

Thanks for the congrats! I'll probably write several of them. I have a thing about series that go on too long, so it won't be dozens...but I can definitely see up to ten. They're short and fun, easily digested, I think they might have a slightly longer shelf life than your usual series. Thanks for coming out to say hey!
